Congratulations to our J. W. Sam Tulsa Regional Team!!
Six third grade students qualified for the regional competition Kameron Neighbors, Colyn Treat, Gage Lankford, DA Shaw, David Batalias, and Cy Cunningham.
Kameron Neighbors & Colin Treat emerged as our top competitors at the 2013 Tulsa Regional SoftSeven Math Race Competition! Dr. Mark McCurry, Founder of SoftSeven , was in Tulsa April 26th to conduct the Competition.
130 schools and approximately 30,000 students from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missuori, New Hampshire, and Arkansas practice daily, having fun 'beating Einstein' and learning their multiplication facts. This exciting motivational program is like a video game and allows students to gain self confidence and compete for prizes: iPODS, Einstein t-shirts, SoftSeven backpacks, Einstein water bottles, and grade level medals, while motivating them to increasing their math skills.
“The kids really love this program and are excited to compete and their math scores are improving,” says Principal Cyndi Flanary, who encourages her students to do their personal best. She explains, “The competition was fun and we have been working hard to qualify students to the SoftSeven State Championships May 6th in Stigler, OK. The top 6 students who participated at the Tulsa Regional qualified to go to State.
Kameron & Colin did awesome! What an accomplishment to qualify for State out of 30,000 students of whom only 120 make it to State.
J. W. Sam does "Valentine's for Vets"
The children designed homemade valentines for veterans at
Sterling House in Owasso, and the Claremore Veteran's Hospital.
J.W. Sam Elementary's Veteran's Day Program
Due to the increase in security, at J. W. Sam, everyone will be required to present an ID card when picking up car riders. In the past if a teacher was on duty that knew the parent, the presentation of a card was not necessary; however, situations have risen that require us to abandon that policy. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Thank you for entrusting your students to us, they are an incredible group to work with!!!
