Catoosa parents and families,
We understand that times of uncertainty, such as the current government shutdown, can create challenges for many in our community, especially those who rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. I wanted to let you know that Catoosa Public Schools remains committed to ensuring every student has access to meals each school day, no matter the circumstances.
If your SNAP benefits are temporarily affected, your student will continue to receive school meals based on their existing eligibility. No student will go hungry because of a delay or disruption in federal benefits.
We are also incredibly grateful to share that a generous private donor has stepped forward to zero out all 2025 first semester student cafeteria balances across the district from August 6th to October 27th. This act of kindness ensures that families can focus on what truly matters without worrying about past meal debt. We are deeply thankful for this demonstration of compassion that reflects the very best of Catoosa.
If your family’s financial situation has recently changed due to the shutdown - such as a loss of income, furlough, or layoff - you may reapply for the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program at any time. Applications can be submitted online at MySchoolApps. Current eligibility will remain valid until a new application is processed or until July 1, 2026, when the new eligibility year begins.
If you need assistance or have questions, please contact our Child Nutrition Specialist, Ashley Richards, at arichards@catoosa.k12.ok.us or reach out to your child’s school office. Our staff is ready to help you navigate any concerns and connect you with the support you need.
Beyond school meals, Catoosa Public Schools is dedicated to supporting our families in every possible way. If you are in need of additional community resources such as food assistance or family support please reach out to your school counselor. Additionally, click HERE for a list of local resources and institutions you can reach out to for assistance and support. These organizations are here to help families meet basic needs, find stability, and access vital services during this challenging time.
If you are unsure where to turn or who to contact, please call the Catoosa Education Service Center at 918-266-8603, and we will connect you to the right person.
In service,
Robert Schornick - Superintendent
