HEADLINE: Heads Up, Catoosa Families - New State Law Bans Student Cell Phone Use in Schools.

On May 5, 2025, Governor Kevin Stitt signed into law a statewide ban on student cell phone use during the school day. This new legislation is aimed at reducing distractions, supporting student mental health, and boosting academic success across Oklahoma.

What This Means for Catoosa Public Schools?

Catoosa Public Schools is currently working to develop a local policy that aligns with the new state law. Our policy will:

- Outline clear expectations for students

- Define any allowable use cases

- Include enforcement guidelines to ensure consistent implementation

Implementation Timeline.

Our draft policy will be finalized and presented for approval at the July 2025 Board of Education meeting. The new rules will go into effect with the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
